This week's poem is of course another original but this one is a bit older. I saved this because I am currently waiting for a message from The Ophelia Gazette. Despite that, I wanted to share this piece that I have been secretly holding.
The title is “If I Wasn’t Me”
If I Wasn’t Me If I was a book Would you read me page by page? Without skipping any word Would you stay for every stage? If I was a rose Would you cut every single thorn? For you to not bleed Would you even mourn? If I was a canvas Would you splatter me with colours? So vivid that you could see I am more than just some dollars If I was a song Would you listen to me over and over? While sitting in a park In a late fall October If I was a cliff Although it doesn’t feel right Would you fall for me? In the same way, I fell for you last night If I wasn’t what I am Would you do all of the above? Whilst promising me That you'll never let go of our love?
To continue I would like to share a haiku of mine. If you aren’t familiar with what a haiku is I will insert below the definition:
The haiku is a Japanese poetic form that consists of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third.
My haiku:
With the title: Nightmare
Sleepless evil nights Thoughtless, mindless and wild minds Painless thoughts of heights
To carry on, I have been working this past year and a bit, on a novel. Currently, I have a few pages of the first draft, some character sheets and a chapter-by-chapter description. It’s a murder mystery novel in which a girl comes to have her biography written but then she goes missing. That’s all I’m saying!
But for the past months, I have been thinking that this is a kinda large project I have taken upon myself and that’s when I thought of the idea to write a short story.
For weeks I struggled to find the actual idea and some kind of inspiration. Just when I was about to give up I had a nightmare. And ooh, goodness. What a nightmare! I felt so strange and disturbed that I just decided that I wanted to share that experience with other readers.
So I just wrote. I wrote only a bit. In spite of that, the information was flowing into me. I quickly developed some characters and started worldbuilding. To be truthful, I have tried worldbuilding but not like this. I have to practically create a whole new planet with new rules, new continents and countries, new languages and cultures.
I am only at the start of this project but this seems to be a bit even harder than the mystery novel! So now I just juggle between these two projects while still writing poetry.
What I will say about the short story is this: Dystopian world, where two enemies team up to find out the history behind their world. How exploited the humans are, and how many secrets were actually hidden from them.
Thank you so much for reading this further!
See you next week C:
“No coming, no going, no after, no before.
I hold you close to me
I release you to be so free,
Because I am in you and you are in me.”
